This is a project I had to do for my Literature 12 class. Basically, we had to make a satire about the city we live in, Chilliwack. I chose to make a comic called "The Adventures of Spiderman in Chilliwack", of which the full title wouldn't fit in the name of this deviation.

Took me about 10 hours in total. The scanner kind of killed it.

Anyone who has ever lived or been to Chilliwack will understand this comic.
If you have never been to Chilliwack, here is a summary:
-famous across Canada for good corn
-lots of cows
-rural community that is rapidly expanding into an urban one... Which leads to:
-every time you turn around, there is an expansion. You will be driving and suddenly say, "Hey, when did that apartment appear there?"
-The tallest building in town is the Rhombus hotel. Everything else is ridiculously short. We're starting to get some appartments, but I still believe this stands true.
-ridiculous amount of churches. seriosuly, like one every three blocks.
-the headline on the news paper is a REAL COVER STORY that I saw.
-The only thing to do in Chilliwack is go to Vancouver.

Haha, this is perfect! I'm now living in St. John's, Newfoundland (which is basically a stretched out Chilliwack, minus the corn and he cows and the railroads) since June 2003.
You hit every nail on the head, haha. Right down to those crazies with the jesus signs on 5 Corners!
When i visited last year after being away for 3 or 4 years, everything was so different, yet the same. So many new apartment structures even in my own little neighborhood around Elm Drive. I even worked at Stream *shudders* - not that my call center job is any better over here. But i do miss the lush plantlife (thick, colourful bushes, huge tall trees ... don't have that kinda thing here - at least not as thickly, or as pretty - no tall trees at all, really ...), and i miss the mountains always in the background. Sorry for rambling on your piece here, but even though there is nothing to do (Haha, the only thing to do in Chilliwack is go to Vancouver, haha, perfect ... or Abbotsford if you're cheap), it made me homesick. Thanks for this funny trip down memory lane!
